About

Chelsea Kramer is a self-taught textile artist based on Vancouver Island, Canada. Kramer is heavily influenced by the rugged landscape of her surroundings and living on the West Coast of Canada for the entirety of her life has deeply impacted every aspect of her work.
After a decade of experimentation in multiple mediums including silversmithing, watercolor and acrylic painting, Kramer found herself deeply immersed in the quiet world of tapestry weaving. Kramer’s objective is to create a snapshot of what she sees, feels and hears in the natural world around her. She observes diverse and complex ecosystems and breaks them down into blocks of color, lines and texture. Then by taking the flat, two-dimensional tapestry and mounting it on canvas, Kramer presents it in a new light, offering a tactile experience and a new perspective.
Her work hangs in private collections across Canada and the United States.
